E-40 just proved once again why he’s a certified legend. To kick off Black Music Month, the hip-hop OG pulled up to NPR’s Tiny Desk on Monday (June 2) and gave us a 25-minute reminder that he’s still got it—and then some.
At 57 years old, 40 Water brought the full flavor with an eight-piece band that took his classic bangers to a whole new level. We’re talkin’ live drums, guitars, backup singers, keys, the whole vibe. The result? A Bay Area symphony of swagger.
He breezed through hits like “Snap Yo Fingers,” “U and Dat,” and “Choices (Yup)”—the latter of which recently popped off on TikTok, introducing a whole new generation to the king of hyphy.
And in classic E-40 fashion, he summed it up best: “I’m on my fourth wind.”
We believe it. Watch the full Tiny Desk performance below and get ready to say “Yup!” at least ten times.
